For more than two decades, Rafa Zavaleta has refined his craft in some of the Peninsula's most distinctive homes. Today, RZ Custom Buildz brings that experience directly to you. Rafa personally oversees every project, from the first conversation to the final walkthrough. You can expect thoughtful communication, transparent pricing, and a builder who is present on site every day.

Whether it's a chef's kitchen, a spa-inspired bath, or a media wall built seamlessly into your home's architecture, each space is crafted to reflect how you live and to stand the test of time. That experience started at 18 with Sattlers Construction in Walnut Creek, where Rafa worked his way from laborer to lead painter in three years and led painting work for seven more.

He went on to kitchen and bathroom remodeling, then spent 14 years at CSI Custom Homes in Redwood City, starting as an assistant carpenter and moving his way up to carpenter, to project manager, to on-site supervisor on major remodels across Woodside, Portola, Los Altos Hills, and beyond.

CSI stood for Craftsmanship, Service, and Integrity, and Rafa built RZ Custom Buildz on those same three values. He is Nuheat certified and a SPAN panel certified retailer, and he keeps adding certifications to deliver good quality work.
